History
The establishment of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) Study Program is inseparable from the great history of the establishment of Lambung Mangkurat University or known as ULM. ULM is closely related to the history of the struggle for Indonesian independence. Although Indonesia proclaimed its independence on 17 August 1945, the Netherlands only recognized Indonesia’s independence and sovereignty on 27 December 1949. In the period 1945 to 1949, the Dutch tried hard to recolonize Indonesia through military and political efforts but were successfully thwarted by the heroes of the Indonesian independence fighters.
One of the regions that persistently fought to defend independence was South Kalimantan. On May 17, 1949 at Niih Village, Kandangan, Hasan Basry proclaimed the Governor Government of the ALRI Army Division IV Defense of South Kalimantan. At the reunion on March 3-10, 1957, these fighters formed the Lambung Mangkurat Council with a work plan that focused on the development of the South Kalimantan region. One of the plans was to establish a university that would be named Lambung Mangkurat University.
Finally, on September 21, 1958 the Preparatory Committee successfully inaugurated the establishment of Lambung Mangkurat University. Lieutenant Colonel Hasan Basry was appointed as the first President (d/h Rector), Major Abdul Wahab Syahranie as his deputy and Drs. Asful Anwar as Secretary supported by a Board of Curators chaired by Sarkawi (Governor of South Kalimantan), and Secretary H. Abdurrachman Ismail, M.A..
At the beginning of its establishment, Lambung Mangkurat University consisted of 4 (four) Faculties, namely Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, and Faculty of Islamology. After the establishment of Lambung Mangkurat University which was inaugurated on September 21, 1958, the task of the preparatory committee was completed and for further management the preparatory committee handed over its duties to the Lambung Mangkurat University Foundation which was established with Notary Deed No. 57 dated February 12, 1959 chaired by Hadji Maksid (Head of Daswati I South Kalimantan).
On November 1, 1960, Lambung Mangkurat University was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to become a State University based on Government Regulation No. 41 of 1960, which consisted of 4 faculties, namely the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture. The Faculty of Islamology was handed over to the Faculty of Sharia IAIN Yogyakarta, then developed into IAIN Antasari. The new Faculty of Agriculture began to organize education on October 3, 1961.
November 4, 1961 the establishment of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) with 5 departments, namely: Indonesian Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Cultural History, Physical Education and Pasti Science. The head of the faculty was Gardjito, S.H. In 1964 the faculty was merged into the Banjarmasin branch of IKIP Bandung. The Department of Physical Education stood alone as the College of Sports (STO). On July 9, 1969 IKIP Bandung Banjarmasin Branch was handed over to ULM and then became 2 faculties, namely the Faculty of Teacher Training, and the Faculty of Education. In 1977 STO was reintegrated into ULM to become the Department of Sport and Health in the Faculty of Education.
FKIP ULM Banjarmasin was formally established on December 8, 1983 with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 0566/O/1983, but was only realized in 1985. This faculty is a merger of two faculties, namely the Faculty of Teacher Training (FKG) and the Faculty of Education (FIP). FETT now has 17 study programs, one of which is the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program. The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Undergraduate Study Program (S1) was officially established on December 8, 2021 according to the Decree of Establishment number 0566/0/1983.
